$25,000 for new Roosevelt Elementary School playground

The Roosevelt Elementary School PTO has raised more than $25,000 in the last school year to build a new school playground. The organization already had contributed $19,000 from prior year funds. The effort was led by a 15-member playground committee. Fund-raisers included a buy-a-brick campaign and a penny collection drive. Demolition of the existing playground will begin in July. The new structure will be larger, with swings, slides, and a climbing structure. Construction should be completed by August, according to a statement from the PTO.
