The city is holding its annual Independence Day Block Party on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sacramone Park and on adjacent Tileston Street. The party will feature game booths, food, and free rides, as well as a live band and a DJ. There will also be face painting; bike and carriage decorating; pie eating, watermelon eating, and Hula-Hoop contests; vendors; and information from local organizations. Meanwhile, the Recreation Department is still accepting registration applications for Everett’s 2013 City Works Youth program. The six-week program, which starts July 8, offers activities for children 6 to 13, including arts and crafts, pool time, entertainment, and weekly field trips. The program runs weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and provides breakfast and lunch. Registration forms are available at the Samuel Gentile Recreation Center, 47 Elm St. For more information, call 617-394-2390 or go to www.everettrec.com.
