Man sentenced to 8 to 10 years in drug case

A Malden man involved in a methamphetamine and date rape drug distribution ring has been sentenced to eight to 10 years in state prison. On June 11, Victor Cao, 45, pleaded guilty in Middlesex Superior Court to two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, charges of possession of ammunition as an armed career criminal, and operation of a motor vehicle after suspension or revocation of license. In addition to the prison sentence handed down by Judge Jane Haggerty, Cao received five years’ probation, according to a statement from Attorney General Martha Coakley. Cao was one of 10 people arrested in a joint investigation into the drug ring by state and federal authorities in Massachusetts.
