The Department of Public Works water division has issued several restrictions on outdoor watering, including irrigation of lawns, flowers, and gardens using sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems, as well as the washing of vehicles, buildings, driveways, and sidewalks. The limits on nonessential outdoor water use will remain in effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 1. These restrictions do not apply to watering using a hand-held hose or to the use of water to maintain livestock or meet the core functions of a business. Other exceptions may also apply. To view the full list of restrictions and details regarding exceptions, visit the town website at and click on the link to the “2013 Limits on Nonessential Outdoor Water Use” from the home page. For more information, contact the water division at 978-671-0957.
