Volunteers needed for River Ruckus

Team Haverhill, an independent volunteer action group that strives to make the city a better place to live, work, and play, is seeking volunteers and sponsors for River Ruckus 2013, a day of free entertainment highlighting the Merrimack River and the revitalized downtown historic district. The festivities are scheduled to take place from 2 to 10 p.m. Sept. 7. The day will kick off with a classic car show. Festivities will also include pontoon boat rides, several live music acts, and food from Haverhill restaurants. River Ruckus is being held this year on the same day as the Haverhill Rotary Club’s Rubber Duck Regatta, when an estimated 10,000 yellow rubber ducks will be floated down the Merrimack River to raise funds for some 40 Merrimack Valley charities. The grand finale will be a fireworks display over the river, sponsored by HTM Credit Union. Haverhill Bank, Pentucket Bank, and radio station 92.5 The River are also sponsoring the event.
