The board of directors of People Helping People recently announced its hiring of Christie Ventura and Jane McIninch as cocoordinators of the Burlington Community Food Pantry. The pantry is a program of People Helping People that provides perishable and nonperishable staples twice a month to income-eligible households from its location at 10 St. Marks Road. Last year, the pantry distributed more than 110,000 pounds of food, with an average of 328 people served each month. Prior to her appointment, Ventura was interim pantry coordinator. An active community volunteer, she is also involved with a PTO, Mother-to-Mother, Relay for Life, and Meals on Wheels. McIninch was instrumental in bringing Farmer Dave’s Community Supported Agriculture farm-share program to the Presbyterian Church of Burlington. She coordinates distribution of weekly shares of fruit and vegetables to the CSA members, and the donation of unclaimed produce from the CSA to the food pantry and the town’s senior center.
