The city recently announced 19 streets are being rehabilitated this year. The improvements will include a complete reconstruction of the streets, new sidewalks, installation of granite curbing, improved access for the handicapped, tree plantings, and minor drainage enhancements. The work on 17 of the streets is being carried out with a combination of funds from the city’s fiscal 2013 capital improvement program and state Chapter 90 highway improvement funds. Those streets are Autumn, Oliver, Union, Arlington, Elm, Chestnut, Vine, Church, Devens, Linden, Norwood, Garden, and West 3d streets; Villa and Union avenues; Chestnut Place, and KK Terrace. Two other streets — Cedar and Bennett streets — are being rehabilitated with federal Community Development Block Grants.
