Fish species found in Vine Brook

Streaming with diversity

Vine Brook has “a rather pristine and unique fish community,” according to biologist Bryan Windmiller, with almost no nonnative fish, which he said is unusual in Eastern Massachusetts, especially for a stream that is so heavily urbanized. Of the 13 species confirmed in Vine Brook by Windmiller and his team, only the bluegill and the yellow bullhead are nonnative:
