CNN Money has named Westford one of the best places to live in the country. The business website, online home of Money and Fortune magazines, ranked the community as 11th in the nation on its annual list of America’s top 50 small towns. According to the website, the nation’s most desirable small towns “are not only thriving economically, they’ve also got all you could want in a place to raise a family: plenty of green space, good schools, and a strong sense of community.” The website defines small towns as those with populations between 10,000 and 50,000. To determine the best places to live, CNN Money considered median family income, diversity, safety, job growth and loss, affordability, schools, and health care. For the top 36 communities, the website’s writers interviewed residents, assessed traffic, parks and gathering places, and intangible elements, such as community spirit. Westford was the second-highest ranking Massachusetts town to make the top 50 list; Sharon was No. 1.
