Breast Care Center receives $5,000 donation

The Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club has donated $5,000 to help support the new Breast Care Center at Anna Jaques Hospital. The donation comes from proceeds from the club’s annual consignment sale and serves as one of the founding gifts for the hospital’s new Breast Care Center at 1 Wallace Bashaw Jr. Way. “Anna Jaques appreciates the generous support from the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club. They play a well-recognized role in providing support to families in our community and we admire their success,” Delia O’Connor, hospital president and chief executive, said in a written statement. “This gift, and those of other donors, helps enable the Breast Care Center to leverage the latest technology in mammography screening and risk assessment protocols, so that we can detect and treat cancers earlier, often when they are smaller,” O’Connor said. According to Kelly Marshall, president of the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club, the donation is in line with the club’s goal of providing financial support to the community. Founded in 1999, the club provides support, information, and friendship for families with young children in Greater Newburyport; for more information, visit
