The Reading Economic Development Committee, in conjunction with the town’s community services department, is accepting applications for this year’s Building Facade and Signage Improvement Program. The initiative, part of the EDC’s efforts to revitalize Reading’s downtown and gateway areas, strives to enhance the physical appearance of building facades and the streetscape; install and/or update signs and lighting; create curb appeal; and drive business to stores in the downtown and gateway areas. Last year’s program helped fund new blade signs, awnings, and window boxes in the downtown. To download an application, visit www.readingma.gov and click on the link to the program from the home page. Applications are due Oct. 2.
