College offers seminars for older learners

Residents 50 and older who are interested in learning are invited to attend a presentation about Northern Essex Community College’s College of Older Learners (CoOL) from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the college’s David Hartleb Technology Center, 100 Elliott St. The program offers a series of seminars taught by seniors with an interest in their topic. Individuals interested in the program will have the opportunity to meet with the fall 2013 season’s seminar leaders and learn more about the seminars. Each seminar meets one day a week for six weeks. The cost is $30 per person per seminar. This year’s topics include Fun Films: People’s Choice; Edible Wild Mushrooms for Beginners; Perennials Plus, Remembering the 50s; The Birds, The Bees, The Trees, and the Environment; and Aging as a Spiritual Journey. For more information, e-mail or call 978-556-3110. To view all CoOL program offerings, visit
