Northern Strand Bike Trail construction in final stages

The city is in the final stage of constructing Everett’s portion of the Northern Strand Bike Trail. Contractors are paving the 1-mile segment and working on final treatment of the path’s entrances and landscaping. The Northern Strand Bike Trail is a regional recreational path that, when complete, will follow a former railroad right-of-way from Everett through Malden, Revere, and Saugus to Lynn, and along a designated on-road route from the end of the right of way to Lynn Shore Drive. Bike to the Sea, a nonprofit organization, has spearheaded the project, working in concert with local communities. The Everett section, which is being paid for with state and city funds, will become the first leg of the trail to be completed.
