Finance Committee favors fire station spending

The Finance Committee has issued its report and recommendations for the fall session of Town Meeting, which is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Chelmsford Senior Center, 75 Groton Road. The committee is recommending favorable action on a proposal that would appropriate $500,000 for the design and construction of a new Center Fire Station Headquarters adjacent to the town offices at 50 Billerica Road (the amount would be in addition to $7.8 million appropriated for the project at the April 2012 Town Meeting) and the transfer of $50,000 from the sale of graves and lots to the cemetery improvement and development fund. Other items to be considered by Town Meeting voters include a proposal to update the definition of home occupations and an article that would amend the town’s zoning bylaw as it pertains to signs and outdoor lighting.
