A community forum on proposed new regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages in town will be held Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. in the first-floor conference room in Town Hall. Wakefield’s substance abuse coalition, Wake-Up, worked with the Police Department to draft the proposed new rules. Following public comment, they will be presented to the Board of Selectmen for its consideration. The regulations will bring Wakefield up to current standards for cities and towns in Massachusetts, according to Ruth Clay, director of public health for Wakefield, Melrose, and Reading. The rules are in addition to state regulations. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting but would like to offer feedback on the proposal can call the Health Department at 781-246-6375. They can also submit written comments to the department by mail or by e-mailing email@example.com. The proposed rules can be viewed on the town’s website, www.wakefield.ma.us.
