Andover serves up another league title

The 16-1 Golden Warriors dominated the Merrimack Valley Division 1 Conference this fall, taking home their second straight league title. Senior defensive specialist Sarah Kenyon and junior captain Azita Bakhtyari have been on target from the service line, with 65 and 62 aces respectively. Bakhtyari, the team’s setter, has also tallied 336 assists.

Bishop Fenwick on a roll


The Crusaders (14-1) have not lost since their first match of the season against perennial power Medfield. Fenwick has been led by its senior captains, middle hitter Kate Lipka (237 kills) and setter Tessa McLaughlin (430 assists), who had a career-high 50 assists in a five-set win over Central Catholic on Monday.

Burlington turns it around

For the past two years, the Red Devils finished 8-7 in league play, landing in the middle of the pack in the Middlesex Freedom League. This fall, led by its returning all-star setter, Melannie Aquino, Burlington is 10-2 in league play.

Lynnfield remains on track

Under the direction of the Globe’s reigning Coach of the Year, Michelle Perrone, the Pioneers are on track for their third straight unbeaten season in the Cape Ann League. Senior libero Ashley McRae has been the defensive anchor, with a team-leading 189 digs, and has received nearly half (241) of the opposition’s 587 serves.


Peabody unbeaten

Under the guidance of senior captains Jillian DiFelice, Katie Gallo and Carolyn Scacchi, Peabody (17-0) has not lost a match, featuring an incredibly balanced attack. Sophomore setter Sara Hosman has been a versatile threat, leading her squad in assists (143) and service points (118).
