Grand View Farm project almost finished

The town’s Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm project is heading toward its finale. The town acquired the 6-acre property on Center Street in 2001 and has been restoring it for use as a meeting and function facility. The work began with exterior repairs to the farmhouse and continued with construction of a replica barn, completed in 2012, and a separate renovation of the main house interior by students from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, with teacher supervision. Final plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work will conclude those renovations at the end of this year. A final work phase involving construction of a 26-space parking lot; planting of trees, bushes, and grass; and repair and re-creation of historic stone walls began this summer and is expected to be finished by the end of November, according to Thomas Hickey, assistant town manager. A grand opening is planned for early next spring.
