Residents targeted by scam

The North Andover Police Department is alerting residents to a scam. Several people have received telephone calls from an 800 number, according to a Police Department advisory, with the caller claiming to be from the power company about a late payment on the resident’s power bill. The caller then demands a payment to avoid suspension of electrical service. Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who has received such a call to report it to police by calling the department’s nonemergency line at 978-683-3168.
