Promoted

Senior Airman Alexander M. Whitlow, from the rank of airman first class. He is the son of Scott and Joan Whitlow and brother of Emily Whitlow, all of Danvers. He is a 2009 graduate of North Shore Technical High School. Whitlow has been reassigned to Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala.

John J. Girard to the rank of Navy lieutenant. He is the son of John E. and Cindy Girard of Groveland, and a 2005 graduate of Haverhill High School. The lieutenant is not on active duty with the Navy and is an engineer aboard the BBC Houston, traveling to several ports in the Mediterranean Sea.

Airman Darien S. Brea, daughter of Richard Brea of Portsmouth, N.H., and Stacy Denning of Methuen. She is a 2012 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Airman First Class Joshua D. Mullen, son of John and Cheryl Mullen of Saugus, and a 2006 graduate of Saugus High School.

Army Specialist Matthew F. Bouvier, son of Clifford and Constance Bouvier of Reading, and a 2008 graduate of Austin Preparatory High School.

From basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Private First Class Richard D. Aponte, son of Luis Aponte of Methuen, and brother of Jodie Binette of Dracut. He is a 2001 graduate of Methuen High School.

Army Private James P. Harris Jr., son of Linda and James Harris of Everett.
