Medford salutes Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan veterans

Veterans of the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan conflicts will be saluted Sunday at 1 p.m. at Honor Roll Park, located next to Temple Shalom on Winthrop Street. Mayor Michael J. McGlynn will unveil a bronze plaque listing the names of Medford residents who served in the armed services in each conflict. Marine Vietnam veteran Dominic Marcellino of Medford, a triple amputee and a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, will serve as master of ceremonies. Medford’s Alumni Band will play patriotic music, and members of the Massachusetts National Guard 101st Field Artillery Unit will assist with raising a giant US flag.
