Town launches Rail Trail mobile app

Residents with smartphones now have a new way to learn about the Danvers Rail Trail. The town recently launched a free Danvers Rail Trail mobile app. The app, developed for the Rail Trail Committee by Mead Web Design and Computing, is now available for download from both Apple and Google stores. The rail trail is a 4.3-mile recreational pathway that runs from the Wenham line to the Peabody line. The app’s features include an interactive trail map with mile markers and bench and sign locations that contains information and GPS directions. The app also provides a game map; an interactive parking map; trail news; an event calendar; mileage markers; a listing of local businesses with GPS directions; and a photo gallery and ways to submit photos. Additionally, the app enables users to report a trail issue, donate funds to support the trail, post a message on a trail fan wall, access the trail committee’s Facebook and websites; and join the committee’s e-mail list. The committee plans to add other features later.
