Schools enter collaborative contract

City and charter public schools in Lawrence have entered into a collaborative contract, backed by a $100,000 grant from the Gates Foundation. Building on the current collaboration in the city under the state’s receivership, the Lawrence Compact Partnership will support joint programs that boost academic programs, facility sharing, teacher recruitment, and enrollment policies. Additional efforts will work to engage the community in systemwide improvement, and to expand and create new high-performing school programs. Lawrence schools were placed under state receivership in 2011 after consistently low academic performance.
