The North Reading Garden Club is offering a $500 scholarship for higher education. The deadline to apply is March 1. Local high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students who possess good character and financial need and are majoring in a field of study related to horticulture or the environment are invited to apply. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have maintained a legal residence in North Reading for at least one year and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must also be planning a career related to gardening, landscape design, environmental issues, floriculture, or horticulture by studying at an accredited college or university listed on the official website of the US Department of Education. The Garden Club will announce the award of the one-year scholarship by May 1.
