Free financial aid guidance at North Shore Community College

Area residents can get free guidance in applying for financial aid for college. North Shore Community College is providing assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid next Sunday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at its Lynn campus, 300 Broad St. The application, known as FAFSA, is required to receive many types of federal, state, and private financial aid. The event is part of FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a program in which assistance in filling out FAFSA forms is provided annually at multiple sites across the state. The services are available to anyone entering college in 2014. Low-income, first-generation students are especially encouraged to attend. Assistance is also available for adult students preparing to enroll in college in 2014. All FAFSA Day locations, dates, and times are listed at Families are encouraged to register for a specific location and arrive early. FAFSA Day Massachusetts is part of a national program, College Goal Sunday, administered by the nonprofit organization USA Funds.
