Northeastern graduate students to share research

Eight Northeastern University graduate students will share their research via interactive concept maps as part of the public speaker series at the Northeastern University Marine Science Center, 430 Nahant Road, on Tuesday. Developed by Cornell professor Joseph Novak, the technique of concept mapping is “a tried and true method of conveying complex ideas in a visual format,” according to a press release, by presenting a visual “story” that is easier to follow than a traditional academic presentation, along with interactive supporting materials such as links to photos, definition boxes, and charts. In addition, short videos produced to amplify other researchers maps will also be shown. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. presentation. Public lectures at the Marine Science Center usually run about an hour, with time also alloted for a question-and-answer period. Light refreshments will be served.
