Free first-aid training for mental health problems offered

DanversCares is presenting Mental Health First Aid training, a national education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to the signs of mental illness and substance-use disorders. The free eight-hour certificate program will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday and on Oct. 10 at the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers. Registration s required by Tuesday. DanversCares is a community coalition managed through the School Department that works to prevent substance abuse and related risks facing Danvers youth. The training is being offered with the help of a Behavioral Health Services grant from the office of Attorney General Martha Coakley.
