The Lynn Community Health Center has been recognized for the longstanding mental health care it has provided to the community. The Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology in Newton honored the center and its founder, the late Dr. Stephen D. Hayes, for showing the value of incorporating mental health care into the services of a community health center. Hale, a psychologist, directed the center’s behavioral health and integrated services for many years until his death in 2011. The honor was presented at a gala dinner at which the school formally announced it was changing its name to William James College.
