James J. Fiorentini was sworn in on Jan. 4 for his seventh term as Haverhill’s mayor. The ceremony took place at City Hall. Fiorentini was sworn into office by Senator Edward J. Markey, who called Fiorentini “Haverhill’s hometown hero,” and, in a statement e-mailed to the Globe, credited the mayor with “revitalizing the city’s downtown, attracting jobs and businesses to the community, and improving the quality of life for all residents.” Fiorentini said he was honored to serve residents for another term. “I know the best is yet to come,” Fiorentini said in a prepared statement. “Our city is on the move with all of the new projects in development. Harbor Place is being built quickly and our downtown is changing before our eyes.”
