Malden Catholic High School’s 10th annual gala, on April 7, had more than 300 guests in attendance, including Malden Mayor Gary Christensen. The event raised more than $300,000, which will go toward funding academic and cocurricular programs, financial aid, and athletics. Among those honored were Medford residents Paul and Margaret Chisholm, who were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for their steadfast support of Malden Catholic. Also honored were school community members Brother Daniel Cremin of Melrose, Dr. James McIntyre of Peabody, and Steven Smoot of Boston, who were given the Brother Robert J. Sullivan CFX 1945 Medal for exemplary service.
The YWCA of Greater Lawrence has appointed Nina K. Goodwin as the program director at the Lynn-based YWCA North Shore Rape Crisis Center . The NSRCC has provided education and crisis intervention services to 27 communities in the North Shore since 1981. For those interested in being a hospice volunteer, Care Dimensions is hosting an eight-week training program starting May 6. The program will be held Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. After completing the program, volunteers will be given opportunities to visit patients, perform clerical work, volunteer at special events, and more.
