Plum Island’s only hotel set to reopen
Beach lovers will soon be able to spend the night on Plum Island when the island’s only hotel reopens June 22.
Blue, The Inn on the Beach has undergone a full redesign under new ownership, Lark Hotels, and is now ready for guests.
The Blue’s redesigned rooms were inspired by the landscape surrounding them. “We had a beautiful palette to work with,” said Rob Blood, CEO of Lark Hotels. “There’s lots of blue, which is probably not surprising. Very beachy.”
The inn, which is located on the Newbury portion of the island at 20 Fordham Way, has 13 rooms, suites, and cottages. With design by Boston-based Rachel Reider Interiors, accomodations include hot tubs, free Internet access, and complimentary breakfast, as well as lounging decks and porches and access to a private portion of the beach.
“Before, the rooms were nice, but there was no color,” said Blood. “It was just white on white on white. Now, we’ve added pops of color and tried to bring in natural elements.”
Blood said the renovation happened “really fast” and estimated the whole redesign took four or five months.
To celebrate the grand opening, Blue is offering 15 percent off room rates for two or more nights Sundays through Thursdays from June 22 to July 21. Regular rates range from $239 to $1,139 per night.
