Area residents can support an initiative to teach media skills to people in recovery from opiate addiction at a comedy fund-raiser in Saugus on Thursday, June 30.
Featuring comedians Greg Howell, Paul Virzi, and Patty Gould, the event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Kowloon, Route 1 north.
The Filming Instead of Getting High Team (F.I.G.H.T.) is an initiative of Johnny Hickey, a Wakefield resident and filmmaker who is the star, writer, and director of the Boston anti-drug movie, “Oxy Morons.” Hickey and his company, Moodwing Moving Pictures, plan to work with young adults in recovery from addiction, providing them with the skills to tell their own stories.
