Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and state and local officials are scheduled to be in Wenham on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for an 11 a.m. ceremony to open the Academy at Penguin Hall, an independent, all-girls Catholic high school. The school will open with 60 girls at the 36 Essex St. property, which in its 87-year history has served as a retreat for nuns, a conference center, and the headquarters for Mullen Advertising. The school’s founders purchased the 50-acre property for $10.3 million earlier this year, after plans for a residential development failed. In addition to academics, the grade 9-12 school will offer theater, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Annual tuition is $22,000.David Rattigan can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
