‘Trailblazers’ will be honored at Essex Heritage gala

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, the Essex National Heritage Commission is holding online voting on which of its trailblazers deserves special recognition at its annual gala.

Essex Heritage has scheduled a “A Toast to the Trailblazers” gala fund-raiser, recognizing 131 organizations and individuals who contribute by conserving resources; creating authentic experiences for visitors to landmark places; advancing the commission’s educational mission; and creating new opportunities. All will be recognized, with the top vote-getters also feted with a special toast.

“We are happy to celebrate the many accomplishments of our friends and partners over the past 20 years,” Essex Heritage CEO Annie Harris said in a statement. “Each nominee contributes to the Essex National Heritage Area’s successes, and we’re thrilled to use this opportunity to create greater awareness of this unique place as we plan for our future.”

The gala is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. Voting continues through March 14 at at, where tickets to the gala also can be purchased.
