Everett considers greenways along Malden River

Everett is exploring creating a series of greenways along the Malden River. A study will also look at how to connect the Malden River corridor to the Mystic Greenways, a network of more than 20 miles of parks and paths from the Mystic Lakes to Boston Harbor. The $60,000 study is being carried out through a partnership between the city and the Mystic River Watershed Association, with funding support from other groups and businesses. Utile, a design consultant firm, will inventory current properties along the waterfront, hold several public outreach meetings, and recommend new pathways, river overlooks, and other greenways. The study will also explore the possibility of locating a public boathouse on the waterfront, and of building a pedestrian bridge across the Malden River midway between the Medford Street bridge and the Route 16 bridge.
