An intra-city shuttle is the focus of a new study the Friends of the Salem Council will be undertaking through a $30,000 grant from the Tufts Health Plan Foundation. The concept of creating a city shuttle and the application for the grant were among the recommendations in Salem for All Ages, a plan created last year outlining how the city could best meet the needs of its older residents. “One of the priority items from the action plan is a focus on improving connections and transportation options for Salem seniors,” Patricia Zaido, cochairwoman of the Salem for All Ages Task Force, said in a statement. “A city shuttle system would be of benefit to residents of all ages, however, and also help lessen traffic congestion and improve quality of life overall.”
