A cohousing group seeking to construct a condominium complex near Malden Square is holding two forums to inform the public about its project. The organization, Bay State Commons, has scheduled the events for Friday, Sept. 22, at the Pearl Street Cafe, 53 Summer St., and Oct. 5 at the public library, 36 Salem St. Cohousing is a type of collaboration in which residents actively participate in designing and operating their living space, according to Bay State Commons. The organization said it holds an option to purchase the American Legion site at 368 Pleasant St., where it proposes to build its 30-unit condominium. Like most other cohousing complexes, Bay State Commons’ development would include private units and shared common space for weekly group meals, child care, and other activities. The Sept. 22 forum will focus on the development plan. The Oct. 5 program will address “What Is Cohousing?” The free forums begin at 6:30 p.m.John Laidler can be reached at email@example.com.
