    Rowley water superintendent resigns

After spending four months on paid administrative leave, Rowley Water Superintendent MaryBeth Wiser has resigned.

The Board of Selectmen and Water Board held multiple closed-door sessions since Wiser’s leave began, but declined to provide any public explanation.

Wiser joined the Water Department in 2014. Prior to her arrival, the department had been plagued by controversy, including $45,000 in misappropriated funds in 2012 and a $25,000 fine from the Department of Environmental Protection in 2013. She was previously placed on leave in 2015.

Town officials are reviewing the job description in preparation for posting the opening.
