Jill Cahill, formerly the communications and donor relations manager for the nonprofit Pathways for Children, is the new community development director for the city of Gloucester. Last month, the 16-year Gloucester resident took over a position recently filled on an interim basis by planning director Gregg Cademartori after Daniel Smith left in August for a job in Washington, D.C. Mayor Sefatia Romen Theken made the appointment, which was ratified by the Planning Board and confirmed by the City Council. “Jill is the right person for the job,” said human resources director Donna Leete, who said that Cahill’s salary will be $103,888. “She has a commitment to [the community’s] quality of life as a Gloucester resident, while advancing and supporting our businesses.” Cahill holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston. “I’m excited to be a part of the city’s future,” she said. “Gloucester is a very special place to live and work in, and I’m glad to be part of that.”David Rattigan can be reached at email@example.com.
