Lynn works to light up High Rock Tower

MassDevelopment and the nonprofit social service agency Centerboard recently announced a fund-raising campaign to complete the illumination of Lynn’s High Rock Tower, a historic, 85-foot structure in the city-owned High Rock Tower Reservation. The new lighting would include 48 energy-efficient color-changing spotlights; a programmable laser that would allow graphics and messages to be projected on the tower; and lights on the top that would allow the park to be enjoyed safely at night. Through private grants, the city installed similar lighting for two sides of the tower in October. If the project reaches its goal of $20,000 through the crowd-funding platform Patronicity by Dec. 31 at midnight, it will receive a full matching grant from MassDevelopment’s Commonwealth Places program.
