Lions holiday event

A century and a half after the Civil War, the Quincy Lions Club marks the ongoing anniversary with a Civil War-themed holiday event on Dec. 5.

The event, which will take place alongside the Quincy Historical Society’s exhibit “Quincy and the Civil War,” will feature wine tasting and a performance by Diane Taraz, director of the Lexington Historical Society Colonial Singers.

According to spokeswoman Jennifer Logue, the wine tasting is one of the organization’s main fund-raisers. Money helps fight blindness, aid disaster-relief efforts, and helps Quincy public schools with scholarships and eye exams.

“All of the money raised goes right back into the community,” Logue said.
