At upcoming meetings, the Sharon Board of Health plans to discuss raising the legal age to buy cigarettes and other tobacco products. Health Administrator Bridget Sweet said the board will likely bring up the issue Monday and at least one subsequent meeting before taking a vote. Exactly how the board might change the town’s tobacco policy, and what age it might set, have not been determined, she said, but the board is looking at other Massachusetts communities with similar rules. As of Aug. 1, Belmont raised the age from 18 to 19 in an effort to keep tobacco away from high school students. Monday’s meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Sharon Community Center.
