Teen honored for saving a life

Robert James, 17, of Dedham was honored last week with a Heartsaver Hero Award by the American Heart Association for saving the life of a colleague in September. According to a statement from the association, James was working at Transitions of Dedham when he saw Georna Phenor slumped on the floor and breathing slowly. He began giving her chest compressions, which he had been taught in a CPR class at Blue Hills Regional Vocational Technical School, until paramedics arrived and took Phenor to the hospital. The award is given to individuals who demonstrate “tremendous courage” by performing CPR.
