Injured firefighter recovering at home

A Marshfield firefighter who sustained serious burns when he became trapped under debris in a Scituate house fire Nov. 6 is recovering at home after treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital. According to Fire Chief Kevin Robinson, Lieutenant Joseph Kalinowski returned to the hospital for additional treatment Nov. 15 to 18 after being discharged within a few days of the fire, and he expects to receive his remaining treatment on an outpatient basis. The chief said Kalinowski has burns on his leg, right shoulder, and the top of his head, and has received skin grafts. A Marshfield firefighter had not been trapped in a building in more than 25 years, the chief said. Robinson said Kalinowski is not likely to return to full duty until after the first of the year.
