Help wanted in search for new police chief

The town is seeking applicants to serve on a committee to help find a new police chief. The seven-member panel will work with BadgeQuest, the consultant recently hired by the Board of Selectmen to conduct the search. The firm will carry out an “assessment center,” in which candidates are evaluated through their performance in role-playing exercises that simulate challenging situations a chief could face. The job has been vacant since Edward Savage resigned, effective Oct. 4, after being placed on paid administrative leave in September for unspecified reasons. Anyone interested in serving on the search committee is asked to return an application form to the selectmen’s office by Dec. 21. Forms are available on the town’s website, www.hanson-ma.gov, or at the selectmen’s office.
