Leaders request more info on future railway

Town leaders are again requesting additional information about the South Coast Rail project, which is expected to extend the Stoughton commuter rail and create several stations in towns south of Canton by 2021. The Mass DOT initiative, which is three years behind schedule, is designed to connect Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton with South Station in Boston. The bulk of the necessary conceptual and structural planning was completed this year, but construction will not begin until at least 2016, according to project engineers.
