Stolen tools located in early-morning raid, police say

A Freetown property was recently swarmed at 3:30 a.m. by a half-dozen local police officers and members of a regional rapid response team seeking stolen tools. The Nov. 28 operation was set in motion by Freetown Detective Shane Kelley, who requested a search warrant for 91 Chace Road following an investigation into a rash of tool thefts around town. At the property, police said, they seized three recently stolen chainsaws and a silencer. Three loaded rifles, not properly secured, were also removed, police said. Heath H. Chace and Oscar D. Demoranville, both 27, were arrested and face charges of possession of a silencer and receiving stolen property. Chace was also charged with failing to secure a rifle.
