Youth leagues merge as one

Old Rochester Little League and Rochester Youth Baseball have merged into one group, under the Old Rochester Little League name, said league President Peter Johnson. The first league formed in 2011 for children in Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester, with the Rochester Youth Baseball group forming in 1978 for players from Rochester. In an announcement at the new league’s website, Johnson said the merger will strengthen the league and let children from the tri-town area have “a more enjoyable experience playing baseball with their peers from all three towns.” Registration for the 2013 season is ongoing through the end of January.
