Lights at the music hall

The Marion Music Hall on Front Street will get a much-needed electrical renovation, said Town Administrator Paul A. Dawson. The selectmen approved a bid of $77,700 from Brite Lite Electrical Co. of Weymouth for the work, which will include replacing all exterior lighting at the more than 100-year-old building, and digging trenches to put electrical feeds underground. Work will include installing new lights for the walkways, façade, and flag pole, Dawson said. The electrical system is in dire need of repair due to environmental wear over the years, he said. The work will cost the town nothing, he said, the money coming from the Music Hall Endowment Fund, created years ago with an anonymous donation to the Sippican Historical Society, which oversees maintenance of the town-owned building.
