Two arrested at 7-Eleven

Two Weymouth men arrested and charged with the attempted armed robbery of an Abington convenience store earlier this month will also be charged with robbing a South Weymouth car wash a few hours earlier, police said. In the Abington incident, police said Jon Harrington, 42, and Bruce Provan, 38, both of Weymouth, entered the 7-Eleven on Brockton Avenue just before 3:45 a.m. Dec. 7 and demanded money from the clerk, Shane Hibbard of Brockton. According to police, Provan pointed a gun at Hibbard, who saw it was a BB gun and used the bat he keeps by the register to hit Provan repeatedly. Harrington then attacked Hibbard with a piece of lumber before he and Provan fled, police said, adding that nothing was stolen from the store. Last week, Weymouth police said Harrington and Provan will also be charged with robbing Super Shine Auto Wash on that town’s Main Street around 10 p.m. on Dec. 6.
