Selectmen honored Foxborough animal control officer Sue Thibedeau Tuesday for being named the Massachusetts Animal Control Officer of the Year. Selectwoman Lorraine Brue read a citation lauding Thibedeau for her work to increase the dog-licensing rate, set up a shelter for pets in weather emergencies, host a large-animal rescue class, and educate the community about coyotes. She is also a volunteer for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and raises Labrador retriever puppies to become guide dogs. Thibedeau had one of those dogs with her as she received the award. After she thanked selectmen for the honor, the dog, Dodie, seemed more interested in a table holding a plate of sandwiches than obeying her trainer. “Is he still in training?” Board of Selectmen Chairman James DeVellis asked. “Oh, yeah,’’ Thibedeau said emphatically, rolling her eyes.
